Mark Webber Reeks Revenge On Red Bull and Wins British Grand Prix

Mark Webber responded to being treated like a dirty rag by Red Bull by taking the British Grand Prix today at Silverstone. The drive was pure defiance and bloody great.

Chris Horner at Red Bull often drones on about treating his drivers equally. He is, of course, a blatant liar. This was never more apparent this weekend when Baby Sebastian broke his front wing and the team replaced it with the one on Webber’s car. Perhaps even more blatant, the team managed to make a “mistake” wherein it got Webber out to late to get a second lap in the final minutes of qualifying. It was a screw job through and through.

Webber tried to keep a firm British upper lip even if he is Australian. That being said, the feelings between the Red Bull drivers were readily apparent as Vettel tried to chop Webber at the start only to see the Aussie rightly push back. Vettel was off, his rear went flat and then it was all down to Webber comfortably holding off Hamilton the rest of the race. His victorious comment of “Not bad for a number 2” on the radio after crossing the finish line was the stuff of legend and well done. Chris Horner and his pitiful ilk tried to claim they were happy for Webber, but nobody is buying it anymore.

Driver of the Race – Mark Webber

When the chips were down, Webber stood up for himself in a big way. His team is against him, but clearly he has the bit by the horns and is refusing to be pushed aside. It will be interesting to see what next steps Red Bull take to sink his title hopes.

Team of the Race – McLaren

I am conflicted on this award. McLaren had a tremendous race with a second and a fourth given the starting positions. On the other hand, the team was atrocious most of the weekend which left them in such bad starting positions. Still, they avoided completely embarrassing themselves on their home track, which stands for something.

Poor Driver of the Race – Baby Sebastian Vettel

What was that? The effort to chop his teammate at the start got him involved in something that need not have happened. He took a sure win and turned it into a disaster. Yes, he came back up through the field, but it is looking more and more like he is not ready for the big time yet. Vettel simply lacks maturity.

Poor Team of the Race – Red Bull

Shown to be biased against Webber and then stick to pathetic lies to try to cover their tracks. Chris Horner looks like the ultimate whore at this point and his team is on the brink of having a civil war. Way to take the best car in the field and completely screw the pooch with it.

Ferrari Conspiracy

Okay, I don’t ever want to hear anything about a conspiracy favoring Ferrari again. The last two races have seen some very questionable calls against the team. Alonso and Kubica looked like a racing accident to me. Even if you believe Alonso should have had a drive through penalty, not letting him do it till after the safety car had bunched up the field was a joke that ended his race. Is it just me or are the stewards far to involved in races?

New Silverstone Track

That was an improvement? I know Silverstone has a lot of history behind it, but that was not an exciting race and the new layout is unimpressive. How could people be happy when the only real passing point, the Abbey corner, has been ruined? Not really happy to know we have 10 more years of this drivel.

Points Race

Perhaps the best lie from Chris Horner was uttered after the race. He now claims Webber will be favored at the next race because he is now above Vettel in the points standing. Anyone believe that statement for even a second? Nonetheless, it does highlight the fact that McLaren continues to lead both championships and is looking very comfortable for taking both at the end of the season. Red Bull is feeding upon itself and looks set to continue to mess things up. Ferrari has been hard done the last two races in the case of Alonso, but it is more and more apparent that Massa should be nudged towards the door. In short, nothing much changed.

The next race is the German Grand Prix on July 25. Check in then to see how Red Bull screws over Mark Webber again. Perhaps they will only give him Vettel’s used tires!
